ALUMINIUM PRE-TREATMENT
Aluminium Pre-treatment is used to remove residual oil, oxide coatings and mechanically damaged layers. The pre-treatment chemicals used on aluminium surfaces guard against corrosion and help alter the surface to improve coating and adhesive adhesion. Aluminium Pre-treatment uses chemical to replace or modify the native aluminium oxide coating.
P 1110 ALUMINIUM MILD ETCHING
Physical Properties: Liquid
Description
P 1110 is an acidic etching solution for use in pretreatment cycles for aluminium and aluminium alloys prior to electroless nickel plating.
P 1110 is specially formulated for difficult to plate alloy. It is also preferred for high-finish for aluminium and aluminium alloys surface because it does not change the appearance of polished aluminium.
P 1110 will produce uniform etching, bright and smooth surface. It has minimal effect on the dimensions of work and produce minimise smut on the works.

P 1075 SOAK CLEANER FOR ALUMINIUM
Physical Properties:
P 1075: Powder
Description
P 1075 is silicates-free, alkaline cleaner designed for soak cleaning of aluminium, zinc die casting, copper, brass and other copper alloys. It will not attack on aluminium and magnesium.
It rapidly wets metal surfaces and displaces oil, grease, shop soil and wettable smuts, leaving the work clean and ready for further processing. P 1075 can be used as a pre-cleaner with or without ultrasonic prior to plating, blackening, phosphating, painting or for in-process cleaning of any kind.
Equipment
Tank: Plain steel tanks
Heating: Steam coils or plate coils
PS 1087 DRY ACID SALT (HYDROFLUORIC ACID SUBSTITUTE)
Physical Properties: Granule Powder
Description
PS 1087 is a dry acid salt which is used in conjunction with a strong acid to replace hydrofluoric acid baths. Its solutions are compatible with virtually all basis metals. Use of PS 1087 in plating cycles results in more active metal surfaces, better adhesion of electroplated deposits and the removal of silicate films. The especially hazardous nature of hydrofluoric acid is eliminated, as are the handling and storage problems associated with this acid.
PS 1087 is ideal for pickling and scale removal from various types of stainless steel or titanium, bright (frosty) etching of silicon-aluminium castings and for pickling magnesium prior to chromating. A considerable increase in solution life over hydrofluoric acid baths is obtained. As with any activation, pickling or etching process, PS 1087 requires surfaces that are free from oils and foreign matter. Thorough cleaning of all metals, as well as thorough rinsing before and after PS 1087, is required.
General Information

ALU-ZINCATE ZINCATE PROCESS FOR PLATING NICKEL OR ELECTROLESS NICKEL ON ALUMINIUM
Physical Properties: Corrosive Liquid
Description
ALU-ZINCATE is a cyanide-free dilute zincate process that is especially designed for plating nickel or electroless nickel on aluminium alloys. ALU-ZINCATE removes aluminium oxide and applies a thin zinc film on the aluminium alloy by immersion to prevent its reoxidation. This film can also be electroplated with copper, nickel and certain other electrolytic processes.
The dilute ALU-ZINCATE solution has a water-like viscosity that rapidly penetrates the water film present on the cleaned aluminium. This produces a denser, more uniform zinc film than found with conventional zincates. This film has improved adhesion to the aluminium, helping to ensure excellent adhesion of the subsequent plate.
The dilute ALU-ZINCATE solution easily penetrates into blind holes, crevices, screw threads, grooves and other inaccessible areas which have been troublesome to plate using conventional, concentrated zincate baths. On large, flat areas of aluminium sheet, the dilute bath produces a uniform zinc deposit instead of the streaked, uneven coating often obtained from the viscous, concentrated zincate solutions.
When work is removed from ALU-ZINCATE, the thin liquid drains readily from the most complicated parts, thereby keeping drag-out losses to a minimum. The thin film of solution which remains rinses off rapidly in a cold water rinse, and the transfer time to the rinse tank is less critical. It is relatively easy to flush the dilute zincate solution from pores in castings and from other areas which tend to entrap solution, thus minimising carry-over of the zincate into subsequent plating baths. Also, the ease of rinsing greatly reduces the chance of blistering the subsequent plate on porous castings.
Equipment
ALU-ZINCATE may be contained in a plain steel tank or drum. If heating is required, a plain steel coil or plate coil is recommended. Since the operating temperature range is quite wide, a manually-operated temperature regulator is sufficient rather than an automatic temperature controller.
